The mad one drowned in God
A soldier in the British Indian army, Tajuddin's God-absorption became so total that the world called it madness — he was for years confined to an asylum, from which his fame as a saint only spread, until a Maharaja took him into his own palace as an honored guest. Sufis call such a one majzub: seized by the divine rather than traveling toward it.
Hindus and Muslims alike thronged to him; he blessed all, held nothing, and left behind no system — only thousands of accounts of lives turned by a glance or a cryptic word. His dargah in Nagpur remains a place of pilgrimage across communities.
From his life, the message this page keeps: the divine seizure does not consult respectability, and the line between the world's diagnosis and God's election can be thin. Honor the seized ones; their existence enlarges the map of the possible.
